To do social design well, you must anticipate many kinds of problems, and imagine many kinds of alternatives. Almost no one can do it all. So we build teams of social designers, each working on their own design project, while supporting each other to improve theirs. Want to be part of one?

How this works. Read through the Social Design Skills Map and try to see which skills you have, and which skills would compliment yours. Then, add yourself to the profiles database below. Once you have a profile, people can comment on it and you can comment on others' profiles to find matches. Or you can attend an event.

Note: these teams are not about making your project happen. We do not support each other with things like marketing or programming. These are design peer groups where other designers can help you think more clearly about the challenges in your design.

Using the Profile Database

• Adding yourself. Read through the skills map. Try to see which skills you have, and which skills would compliment yours. Then, use the blue "New" button that appears when you hover over the title of the database. Click the little dropdown next to the button, and choose the template called "New Profile". (Don't see a "New" button? Then you may need to press Edit and sign in to Notion.)
• Browsing others' profiles. Look through profiles in the "seeking" column. Pay attention to their answers to question 2 (what they want in a social design collaborator). Comment on their answer if you think they might be a good match! Or, if you'd prefer, come to a matchmaking event where we do this live. (Next event is January 27, 2021.)
