Think of a time when you were able to live by a value. What kind of features of the situation made it possible? Think of a time when you failed to live by a value, what kinds of features of the situation might have made it possible. See if you can find features which aren’t in the list on the previous page.
In this game we’ll take a social situation in which its easier to live by a particular value and find ways to change the structure of the situation that would make it much harder to live by that value.
Take time to consider the structural features of social systems around you. Try to name the features that characterize your workplace, a non-work group you belong to, your family life and friend group. Make a list of values that are supported and suppressed in these various environments. Do thought experiments in which you shift the structural features of each system or space to fit with various values that you might want to support. If you come up with something interesting, see what you can do to put it into action (and tell us about it!).
